LAURA’S LASAGNE

1 1/2 lb. ground chuck beef

2 tsp. garlic salt

1 can (28-30 oz.) crushed tomatoes

1 can (12 oz.) tomato paste

1 tsp. basil

1 1/2 tsp. oregano

2 cups cottage cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 pkg. (16 oz.) lasagne noodles

 

Cook pasta as directed on package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Brown ground beef and drain fat. In same skillet, sprinkle meat with garlic salt and stir. Combine tomatoes, tomato paste, basil,. and oregano with meat.

Heat to boil and reduce heat to simmer.  Cook sauce an additional 15-20 minutes. In mixing bowl, combine cot­tage cheese and 1/2 cup parmesan cheese.  In 13 x 9 x 2 baking dish, spoon 3/4 cup of sauce on bottom. Reserve 1 cup sauce and ˝  cup mozzarella cheese.

Alternately layer noodles, sauce, cottage cheese mixture, and moz­zarella cheese. Top with reserved sauce and mozzarella cheese. Top with 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.

Bake at 350 degrees until cheese is bubbly. Allow to cool 10 minutes.  Serves 6-8 generously.
