ANGEL BISCUITS
1 pkg. or cake of yeast
2 Tbsp. warm water
1 cup shortening or oil
5 cup flour
1 tsp. soda
3 tsp. baking powder
4 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp.. salt
2 cup buttermilk
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water, Sift together
all dry ingredients; cut in shortening then add yeast and buttermilk to dry
mixture. Knead enough to hold together. (you may find it necessary to add a
little more flour to hold it together well).
Roll 1/2 to 1/4 inch thickness and cut with
biscuit cutter and dip in melted butter and fold. Pat tops of folded rolls with
melted butter. Let rise 1 hr. before baking. Bake at 450 deg. for 20 minutes or
until golden brown. 3-4 dozen rolls. Can refrigerate or freeze before baking. |
